Chapter 264: The Cage Finally Opened
Chapter 264: The Cage Finally Opened
Cyrus’ eyelashes trembled, and finally, little by little, he accepted the bowl from her hands. Seeing that, Roxanna silently let out a sigh of relief.
Cyrus lowered his gaze to the medicine. His hands shook slightly as he brought the bowl closer to his lips. For a moment, it looked like he might throw it away again, but in the end, he carefully took a sip and then drank all of it in one gulp.
The entire cage fell silent.
Roxanna watched him nervously while Cyrus remained frozen in place, as if waiting for something terrible to happen.
After a few seconds passed, nothing happened. Cyrus still looked a little lost, but at least now, he finally understood that the medicine truly wouldn’t hurt him. Instead, the bitter taste slowly spread warmth through his body, easing the pounding pain inside his head and chest little by little.
To be honest, it felt like he was floating on top of a calm lake, surrounded by the soft sound of soft splashing water and lotus flowers drifting beside him.
Cyrus blinked slowly before finally lifting his head to look at Roxanna. "Ro...xanna?" he called softly, as if he had only just found her name again inside his mind. His amber eyes, which had looked so dull before, slowly began to regain their light.
"Yes." Roxanna’s gaze softened as she smiled warmly at him. "It’s me, Roxanna, your wife."
Cyrus fell silent for a few moments before finally murmuring, "Not the evil one?"
She let out a small chuckle. "Not the evil one."
Little by little, the tension in his body began to fade, and his shoulders relaxed slightly. He let out a deep breath before lowering his head again. "Did I lose my mind?"
Roxanna hummed softly. "Just a little bit."
[Well, it’s definitely not just a little bit, but he doesn’t need to know that,] Roxanna thought inwardly. [Good thing he can’t hear my thoughts as long as I think softly in my head.]
The moment Cyrus heard her thoughts, he immediately lifted his head again. He looked like he wanted to say something, but when his eyes landed on Luan, who was standing outside the cage, he decided to stay silent.
"The most important thing right now is whether you’re okay," Roxanna asked carefully. "Do you know where you are right now?"
"Yes, I know." Cyrus nodded slowly at first before the movement became quicker. "I know where I am."
"And you know that you’ll be safe if you stay here, right?" Roxanna looked at him nervously because that was the thing she needed to know the most right now.
At last, a small smile appeared on Cyrus’ face. "I know," he said softly. "I know I’ll be safe if I stay here with you and the others."

The amount of Spirit Points Roxanna had collected had already gone far beyond her expectations, so it seemed like she really needed to scroll through the system market again.
[Yes, Host! There are many new things in the market now that your Spirit Points have passed 300,000! You should take a look!] the system reminded her excitedly.
She definitely planned to do that later, but right now, there was something much more important.
Roxanna turned her attention back to Cyrus. She gently reached out and held his face in her hands. "That’s right. You’re safe with us, and no one will hurt you here."
Roxanna quickly shook her head. "No, not at all. You’re part of our family, so of course we’ll do our best for you."
Roxanna quickly shook her head. "No, you didn’t cause us any trouble at all. You’re part of our family, so of course we’ll do our best for you."
[Including making poison to use against the Sky Tribe,] Roxanna thought bitterly. [I never thought there would come a day when I’d actually want to poison someone so badly.]
At first, she had felt a little guilty about it. But every time she remembered the pain they had caused Cyrus and the deep scars they left in his heart, she stopped caring about them completely.
"Hey," Luan suddenly spoke up.
He was still standing outside the cage, but now he had walked closer to the cage door. "If you’re feeling better now, then get out of there. This cage is hurting my eyes."
Cyrus blinked several times, still struggling to focus properly. A moment later, he finally nodded. "Yeah... this cage is hurting my eyes too."
"Hey! I built that cage to protect you!" Calen shouted from far away. Somehow, the dog beastman could still hear their conversation perfectly clearly. "At least show me some respect!"
Cyrus only shook his head tiredly after hearing the loud shouting. He looked at Luan and said weakly, "Can you make him stay quiet for a moment? My head hurts."
Luan slowly turned toward Calen, then pointed toward a bunch of trees with a blank expression. "Go bark over there instead."
"What did you just say?!" Calen immediately exploded.
"You’re too loud," Luan replied calmly. "His head hurts, so stop shouting like a wild dog."
"I am a dog beastman, idiot!"
"Exactly my point."
Calen looked ready to jump straight at Luan, but before he could start another argument, Roxanna quickly covered her face with one hand. "Please... not now," she muttered tiredly.
For a moment, the tense atmosphere inside the cage finally became lighter, even Cyrus looked a little stunned before letting out a faint laugh under his breath. It was quiet and weak, but it was still a laugh.
"Alright, since he’s fine now, why don’t we eat something?" Luan asked. "We can roast the mushrooms we brought earlier." He looked at Cyrus. "You can still cook, right?"
"Luan!" Roxanna scolded him. "He still needs some rest! I’ll do the cooking, so why don’t you call Azul to come back and tell him that his medicine worked well."
Luan smiled innocently, not looking guilty at all. "I was just joking."
Before Roxanna could reply to him, he had already walked away to find Azul. She let out a small sigh before helping Cyrus stand up carefully. She held his arm gently and guided him toward their hut.
As they walked away, she turned to look at Zeir and Calen. "Please destroy the cage," she said.
But after a short pause, she added warmly, "And thank you for making it. It was actually a really good cage."
The moment Calen heard her praise, his bad mood disappeared instantly. His tail almost looked like it was about to wag.
"I can make another one if you want, wife!" he said excitedly.
Zeir immediately covered Calen’s mouth with one hand and dragged him farther away from Roxanna. "No, we are absolutely not making another cage," he said calmly. "Especially not for you."
"Why not?!" Calen complained while trying to pull Zeir’s hand away. "We can use it for something else!"
Zeir narrowed his eyes slightly. "Like what, Calen?"
"I don’t know..." Calen paused for a second before blurting out, "Playing?"
The entire area instantly fell silent. Everyone stared at him at the same time, clearly wondering what kind of "playing" would involve putting Roxanna inside a cage.
After receiving those stares, Calen finally realized that he had said something incredibly weird. "No, wait, forget it! Forget I said anything!" he shouted in embarrassment. "I’m sorry! Stop looking at me like that!"
Roxanna stared at Calen for a few seconds before finally giving him an awkward smile. "It’s alright, Calen. Just take it apart, please, and maybe we can use the pieces of wood as firewood."
Calen quickly nodded and didn’t argue any further. Meanwhile, Roxanna and Cyrus entered the hut first.
While she let him rest, Roxanna cooked the mushrooms in the kitchen and also prepared other meals to appreciate all of her husbands’ hard work in protecting Cyrus.
And it seemed like her meal was able to bring some peace to them because the moment everyone took a bite, they suddenly became very quiet, as if all the tension and the bad atmosphere from earlier slowly faded away from their bodies.
No one said anything, but somehow, they felt peaceful inside their small warm hut.
After eating, they even did the chores quietly and decided to simply lie down on the floor mattresses to rest their bodies and minds.
After all, her husbands seemed like they hadn’t slept the entire night, and even though they didn’t get tired easily, they still needed some rest to calm their minds.
"How’s the poison?" Luan suddenly asked Azul.
"Everything went well," Azul finished quietly. "The poison is stable now. If the Sky Tribe’s people get hit by it, the effect should spread through their bodies very quickly."
The warm atmosphere inside the hut became slightly heavier again after those words.
"They won’t stop coming after Cyrus," Zeir said calmly from the corner of the hut. "Preparing ourselves is the right choice."
